Houzzer Profile: Cassie TeRiele, Industry Solutions
Cassie is a Sales Development Representative in our San Diego office, introducing Houzz to home improvement and design professionals across the U.S. and educating them on how the platform works. In her free time, Cassie enjoys being outdoors, whether that’s at the beach or on a hiking trail. She’s also a big foodie and loves to check out all the new restaurants and breweries around San Diego.
How did you first hear about Houzz? I first heard about Houzz while attending San Diego State, where several of my peers were working on mock marketing plans for Houzz. Shortly after graduating, my college roommate started at Houzz in Irvine as a recruiting coordinator and let me know they were hiring for entry-level sales positions in San Diego. I quickly applied and the rest is history!
What do you enjoy most about being a Sales Development Representative (SDR)? My favorite thing about being an SDR is knowing that I can positively impact the lives of home improvement and design professionals all over the U.S. Houzz gives professionals the opportunity to be seen by their ideal clientele, and to grow their businesses.
What is your favorite Pro+ feature? My favorite thing about Pro+ is that professionals have access to a designated Client Success Manager (CSM). CSM’s are available to make sure that each pro is getting the most out of using Houzz. They can handle everything from uploading photos to the pro’s Houzz profile to helping pros understand their profile analytics.
What do you like most about your job? I love the company culture and the life-long friends I’ve made at Houzz. Everyone I’ve worked with here is so supportive and kind. The managers are hands-on and take time to make sure we have the tools we need to be successful. Also, despite being in a sales role which can be competitive, my peers want me to succeed just as much as they want to succeed themselves.
What advice do you have for others looking to start a career in sales? My advice is to go for it, even if you think you don’t have a sales personality. I wasn’t sure if I was cut out for sales but 99% of it is a mindset and having the confidence in yourself to communicate the value of the product you are selling. It’s also very important that you believe in what you’re selling.
Are you a morning person or an afternoon person? I am definitely more of a morning person. I try to be as productive as I can in the mornings whether I’m at work or on my days off. On my days off I love working out in the morning and grabbing coffee or brunch with friends. I enjoy getting up and getting motivated so I have the rest of my day to relax!
